Martin Chodúr's Gig

I came back from Ostrava yesterday and going through photos and videos I took at Martin's gig in 'Klub Parník'. It was really emotional, it reminded me once again how much talented singer Martin is. And, I got signed Martin's last album 'Manifest', when asking him, I was really akward but it was worth

It was 'Chanson' gig and therefore Martin sang the most symptomatic songs but he sang his own songs as well :)

Here is one of the videos I recorded that night :)
It is an additional song: Cry Me A River

Martin Chodúr's Own Motivation

Even though, the site is a little bit weird (I am not a big fan of motivation books, some of them are just crappy), I enjoyed reading Martin Chodúr's interview in there. Lately, Martin really IS 'sun' (like some other fans call him). He's cheerful and smiling in most photos and interviews I have seen lately- I mean, in his beginning in 2009ish, he was smiling but not with this (uhm, how to call it) 'shining energy'.

My most favourite bits from this interview (I've been trying to translate it in English- please, consider it's a loose translation

I'm not motivated by material stuff. I'm motivated by my inner art drift (He actually used word overpressure- but I'm not sure it would sound positive as he ment it) which I cannot ignore. I Love singing therefore 'to can sing' is my motivation.

About success

To do what we really desire and not what we are told to do if it is not what we want.

About things that make him happy, draw inspiration and energy from

Love, family and home and health. I'm happy that I have those stuff- they load me up with energy.

About meaning (purpose) of life

There's not just one main and deep meaning of life. Like the thought that a novel has to have introduction, plot line (twist) and denouement is obsolete. It is a just a rule and simplification which human made. Why would life had to have meaning? What if this means 'If there's no meaning, we should commit suicide?! Why? Because it has. But it's not ONE meaning, it's more like a circle of life...

That Ostrava, again?

I'm preparing for 'Martin Chodúr zpívá šanson' (~Martin Chodúr Sings Chanson) whilst listening to the album titled Manifest. Only 19 days of waiting. One hand I can't wait but on the other...and don't want it to be over. When the winter semester starts, I doubt I'll have a chance to see Martin performing any time soon.
I am wondering what is gonna be like...
You can find tickets on martinchodur.cz or on the site of 'Klub Parník' (the place where it takes place).

Martin's Second Album On Spotify!

Martin Chodúr and his second album Manifest.

MCh on Instagram
Isn't it amazing, Martin's Cd is available on Spotify! I mean, I love physical copies (I am also a happy owner of 'Manifest'), but lately I've been streaming a lot (Spotify Premium).

Side note- I get that some artist are kind of disgusted by streaming because, I've been doing small research and yeah, obviously, it isn't that much profitable for them. But guess what? I don't feel guilty at all. Beside streaming, I buy both physical CD and audio albums from iTunes or Google Play and lately (unfortunately) I'm ruining myself by buying their merchandise, tix and stuff. Plus, I can take Spotify Premium everywhere- it works even offline (laptop, tablet, smartphone). So stream happily (did you know there are already official streaming charts? For instance- lovely Bastille :)) and support you favourite artist by buying cds, merch, tix... and spread the word to find them new fans :))

If you liked it, then, please, feel free to buy it here ♥

One Hell Of A Singer!

There's no doubt Martin Chodúr is a talented singer. Lets listen to Martin's cover of a Ezra's song.

And how he kept looking in to the camera :D I mean, such a lovely performance, but those looks are hilarious! (in a good way (: )

Martin Chodúr Sings Chanson

I am so excited! Martin Chodúr announced his next concert, it takes place at a club 'Parník' in Ostrava this September. I've already bought train tickets and I am looking for a hostel there. I has not bought the ticket yet but, hopefully, they will appear here soon. EDIT: I have the ticket!

I should behave my age but my hands are shaking and my heart beats so fast, I am almost crying! Oh why? It has been such a long time (at least, it feels like that) since I saw Martin performed live (Have I already mentioned how talented he is?). Cannot flipping wait. That's what I have been dreaming of, Martin having a concert during my summer holiday. Well, I hoped It would be somewhere closer to my home (Prague or something), never mind, I am going anyway.

How Many CDs Do You Have

Even though I pay for Spotify Premium (the best app I ever had by the way), sometimes buy audio CDs from Google Play, I absolutely love buying physical copies of CDs. I don't have many (just CDs of artist I appreciate the most) but I wish I had a collection of CDs like Martin Chodúr some day.
Martin is known for his passion for music however this photo made my smile :)

When It Comes To My Favourite Artists I Am Out Of Superlatives

I am passionate about music I like. From my point of view I can divide music into a few categories: Love, Like, Uhm-it's ok, Do Not Like, Hate=Do Not Listen To.

Love Category List (not in this order- It would be like my nightmare if I had to say who is the best of my best :D)

  • Passenger
  • Bastille
  • Ed Sheeran
  • Stu Larsen (Oh my, how come I haven't checked him out sooner?!)
  • The Once (wonderful)
  • Martin Chodúr
(s**t, hope this 'list' won't grow 'cause otherwise my life would have had to consist of sitting home and listening to music, looking for tix and wating for new albums )

Those mentioned above I can listen to them over and over and, actually, I get excited just hearing/reading their names, I dig for interviews of theirs on the Internet and care about them. I am really PROUD of them and happy I can be their fan (I 'need' their CDs, I bother my FB friends by sharing zillion of things about them, keep an eye on their live dates).
Oh oh, it's a passion,
Oh oh, you can feel it yeah,
Oh oh, it's a passion,
Oh oh, oh, oh, oh
Lyrics from Of The Night (cover by Bastille)

Like A Lot List

  • To Kill A King (I 'discovered' this band thanks to Bastille, I am glad I did)
  • James Arthur (I had to trasfer him from 'Like category' after hearing him life)
  • John Newman (like James, I shipped him into this imaginary 'Category' after seeing him at Colours of Ostrava)
  • Michael Bublé
  • Imagine Dragons
  • Priscilla Ahn

I Listen To It From Time To Time List (when chilling)

  • Rudimental
  • Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams and Take That
  • Ellie Goulding
  • Coldplay
  • Ronan Keating (and Boyzone)
  • OneRepublic
  • Olly Murs (when going roller-blading and If I make myself go running :D, otherwise not much)
  • Matthew Morrison (he was my obsession for a time in my fifteens :D)
  • Jessie J
  • Janet Devlin
  • London Grammar

2009 - The Year When Music Invaded My Life

That year, the first series of Czecho-Slovak SuperStar, Europe's first international version of Pop Idol(the European equivalent of American Idol) happened. I was not particulary interested at first. However, after hearing Martin Chodúr sing (see the video above!) I was hooked. It was kind of 'Veni, vidi, vici' situation (in a way :D- he actually won the competition and plus Breathrough Act at Český Slavík the same year! ). Before Martin, music was like a background sound to me, now it is just inseparable part of my life (life is better with good music, right?). I am so grateful I can be his fan! And by the way, I have already seen him performing live three time (not lately, unfortunately, but hope to see him again soon!) and have two autographs (treasure to me) and hopefully a photo too (finger crossed).

My collection of CDs and other stuff concerning MCh
